The main event of the Seabreeze Festival is a progressive
community feast of music, visual arts and family events capturing different
sites, moods and artistic environments across 2 kilometres of sand. Come
and appreciate the beauty of the Nightcliff Foreshore on Seabreeze Day.
9.00 am Natural History Walk with Dr
Richard Willan, NT Museum Curator of Marine Biology encompassing a wide
range of Top End flora and fauna. Bring a hat, insect repellent and water
and meet at the Nightcliff side of the Rapid Creek Footbridge. Numbers
limited. Please book on the Festival Hotline 8985 5111. The Nightcliff
Seabreeze Festival promotes a free foreshore environment.
3.00 pm Seabreeze Artspace exhibition
is located near the jetty. Visual artists are invited to submit paintings,
sculptures and photographs by 11.00 am on the day. Prizes include the
Nightcliff Lions Club Perpetual Trophy & $500 and the People’s

3.30 pm Sand Sculpture Competition –
Fun for all the family, bring your spades and imagination. Sculptures
judged at 6.00 pm. Nightcliff beach opposite Walker Street. 1st prize
$150, 2nd prize $75 & 3rd prize $50
12.00 pm Dragon Boat Racing –
come and try with Dragon’s Abreast. Meet at the jetty.
3.00 pm Show us your Street Gear exhibition
of cars and motorbikes in the Nightcliff Swimming Pool carpark. Prizes
include the People’s Choice award. Vehicle registration 2.00 pm
- 3.00 pm.
6.00 pm Drumbeat – Join the fusion
of multicultural drums and dance on parade following the Chinese lion
from the Nightcliff Swimming Pool to the Main Stage at the Rapid Creek
mouth. Bring your own drum to share in this diverse, percussive experience.
